| Through this word of the Govern-
ment we dont want any consideration
from you for the money, but as you are
old you had better accept this money to
keep you. But when he received it
' then we see it is to break the harrier
 between Tawhiao and the Government,
for an instance the pensions which the
i other chiefs received is not treated in
! the same way as Tawhiao. Therefore
' Tawhiao was quite justified in saying
that this was a ( Hu ) for him. What
' can you expect from the European
nation who are used to the way of flat-
i tery to gain their cause.

' Here is another work of the Euro-
peans the Maori nation must be nothing
but clogs. I would not had said any
thing if the Europeans kept their criti-
cisms to them-selves. But perhaps its
through Tawhiao taking the money of
 the Europeans, but however Tawhiao
did not ask them lor the money. They
(the Europeans) offered it, why I spoke
about this is through the work of the
 European's, in their News Papers?
Printed, and Published, by the Pro-
 prietors, William John Geddis, and
 William Bromfield.

Which we see in the Observer Paper,
of the 21th May 1892. Mr Cadman
and Tawhiao, Mr Cadman is standing
with his hat raised and one hand
stretched out to take Tawhiao's hat
which is full of holes. Tawhiao who '
is like one of the lowest loafers or
paupers with a torn blanket over him
his trousers all torn and patched in
the seat and long toe nails with one
hand holding a bag of money £240
pounds, and the other hand giving his
hat to Mr Cadman which is mentioned
in the Observer a Stovepipe, and the
words under ?—

                                                  I
How are the mighty fallen Tawhiao
accepts a pension and resigns his crown
(i e ) his stove pipe.
Now my friends I will not be doubt-
full in saying that the European nation
who are living at New Zealand, are the
instigators of this work against Tawhiao |
This work of the European shows, that
Mr Cadman has taken his hat off to I
hip " hip " hurrah, at Tawhiao's crown
falling while he is native minister, and
as this is the first money that Tawhiao
hoatu hei hoko kakahu mona, kia
, mahue ai te Paraikete papaki o Ta-
whiao, me uma Tarau pakaru, a, kua
hoatu hoki e ia tona Karauna, kia te
Karimana, kua pakaru nei hoki taua
I Karauna, koia ra mana kua kiia nei,
he Paipa-putanga ahi nei te ingoa o te
potae o Tawhiao. I runga pea i te nui
rawa o nga moni a te Karimana, i ho-
Karauna o Tawhiao, hei utu mo aua
moni i (Huree ai,) a te Karimana,
i peneitia ai hoki e te Pakeha.
Koia ano i tika ai te ki iho " Au
mahi ra," e te Pakeha, kei enei take
rawa a te Pakeha i tika ai te mohio-
tanga iho ki taua moni Penihana nei, i
hanga ai e te Pakeha, me pena te ahua
o te Kiingi Maori. Na reira i tika ai te
kupu a Tawhiao. Mutu tonu ia ki tena
i moni, no te mea i mahi whakapati-
' haratia ake ai, me whakahoki atu te
: moni a te Karimana, i homai nei kia
 Tawhiao, e £56 6. 0. Na tana moni
koia ranei i whiwhi ai a Tawhiao i te
moni ? E tika aua ra, me whakahoki-
atu te moni a te Karimana.

Heoi ra e nga Iwi:— Kei whea ianei
he huarahi atu mo te Maori, e tata ai
ki o tatou hoa Pakeha, e noho i te mo-
tu nei. Akuanei pea, ka mea o tatou
hoa te Pakeha, he whakapae tenei naku
ki a ratou e hara ia ia tenei mahi
mo Tawhiao, ae pea heoi ano ra, ta-
ku i kite iho no roto i te Pukapuka,
ri o to Motu nei taua mahi. Heoti
noho nei i Aotearoa me te Waipou-
namu, He aumihi tonu kei roto i ahau
mo koutou kei whakaaro mai ra, to ta-
tou hoa te Kawanatanga, e korero atu
ana ahau kia in, kaore. Engari kia
nei, nana ano hoki i mahi mai i tetehi
mahi Tau-rekareka, mo toku Kiingi, i
hua atu ai tetehi kupu maku i aku ku-
pu kua mutu ake nei; Heoi ra ko taku
whakaaro ia ko tatou ano, i runga i te
ahua o tatou Tupuna, tuku iho ana kia
atu nei ahau ki a koutou i etehi ro-
ngo rongo e ahu mai ana i nga whe-
nua nunui << te ao. ara i Ranana, he
aha koa te ki ai to tatou hoa te Kawa-
natanga, kaore he mana whakahaere it

i te moa kua tukua noatia mai te maua
whakahaere o Nui Tireni, ki te Kawa-

mea. Na:— te mohiotanga ake kei

has ever had in his life, which Mr Cadman
gave to him to buy clothes so that Tawhiao
may cast away his ragged blanket and toru
trousers, and Tawhiao has given his crown
(i e ) stove-pipe which is in a dilapidated
state to Mr Cadman. Perhaps it is through
the large sum of money which Mr Cadman
gave to Tawhiao which made him hurrah, as
Tawhiao had to give his crown to pay for
the said money.

I am quite right to say who is to compete
with the Europeans. We can clearly see it
is through Tawhiao taking the pension that
made the Europeans criticise the Maori King.
Tawhiao is quite right in Baying I am finished
with that money. No wonder Mr Cadman
flattered Tawhiao to take the money so that
his European friends may have an opportunity
to criticise Tawhiao. Therefore, Mr Cadmans
money which he gave to Tawhiao £56 5s
shall be returned to him. Perhaps its through
that money that Tawhiao has money enough.
Then oh nations where is the road for the
Maori's to be close to our European friends
who are residing on this Island. Perhaps
our European friends think I am condemning
them falsely about this work against Tawhiao.
But enough. I got it out of the News-papers
of the Europeans, therefore it must be the
work of the Europeans and their heads is
the Government.

Now friends the Maori nations who are
residing on these Islands Aotearoa and
Waipounamu. There is always greetings in
me towards you. Our friend the Government
must not think I am speaking to him, no but
to ourselves the Maori nation of these
Islands. It is through their low unmanly
work against my King that made me say
a few words in that road Enough. My
greatest thoughts are ourselves the image
of our ancestors which is handed down to
us their offspring Enough,

Now friends I will show you some news
which Came from a great land, that is from
London. No matter what our friend the
Government may say that England has no
authority to conduct the affairs of New Zealand
as England had given the power and
authority to the Government of Now Zealand
years ago. Never mind as we all know that
the Maori nation are all in dark trouble,
but England still hears her regards to the
Maori nation of New Zealand through the
words of the Queen, of the treaty of Waitangi
which I have already explained to you in the
paper oi September and October last
