TE WANANGA. Katene : Ko tenei rarangi, me tuku ki te WANANGA, me Pitihana hoki. Tikawenga : Me hinga tena tangata a Tatana, me panui ki te Motu, me Pitihana. Moroati : Ka pena ano tatou, kaore e pai ko tena he tangata hei riwhi mo Te Makarini. Te Muera : Ki te hinga a Tatana, kowai ta tatou tangata e whakatu ai ? Noa Huke : Ko te Kawanatanga me whakahinga hoki. na ratou tena tangata a Tatana. Takarangi : Ko te toto o Te Makarini, me horoi rawa atu, kaua e waiho. I te hui mo te matenga o Te Makarini ka korero mai a Te Omana ma me huna nga mahi kino katoa a Te Makarini, a i tohe mai a Te Omana ma kia Tareha raua ko Renata, me tuku atu a Ngatahira kia Tatana, kaore a Tareha raua ko Renata i pai. Henare Matua : Ma Henare Tomoana tenei take korero e whakamarama kia koutou, ko taku kupu tenei e patai ana ki te hui nei me pera ranei te tikanga a te hui nei, me ta nga tangata o Ngatahira, kaore ranei ki taku, kaore au e pai kia riro a Ngatahira. Henare Tomoana. Tiamana: I runga i te hiahia o to hui, whakamaramatia ana e ia nga mahi katoa o Ngata- hira. Henare Matua : THE NATIVE MEETING AT OMAHU. Treaty of Waitangi Solomon Petera Rangihiroa said : That which makes me agree with the subject of the point now being discussed by this meeting is the name of Christ. There are many different roads in which worship is lead in these islands, hence the subject now under discussion invites us to go ia the one and true worship of God. Even as the European has but one God. Tareha te Moananui said : The words of the subject under discussion are true and good, and it is teaching us the people who are here assembled. The cause of the much speaking is from the fact that there are so many different ways by which God is worshipped in these islands. If there was but one religion (that which the old missionaries taught us) there would not be much talk. The subject before thy meeting is quite clear. Let this twenty-second subject be printed in the WANANGA, so that all the people of these islands may see it, and if they do not like it, that will be their own fault. The subject was put to the meeting, which was passed without any dissentant voice. The twenty-third subject was then read by the Chair- man (and put to the meeting for discussion). Renata Kawepo said : Some of the words of this sub- ject now submitted for discussion, incline to a jocular style, and I do think some words may be nipped off. Mete Kingi said : Let the subject which has been pro- posed for discussion be put in its entirety, so that all the tribes may see the wrong done in the land purchasing of Sir D. McLean. Those whose lands have been bought | correctly will not speak, but those who speak will be those whose lands have been bought as by theft. i Karaitiana Takamoana Tikawenga Takarangi Horima
