I downloaded the binary distribution, and I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate.
Have since downloaded two different versions of java (recent one is SDK).

Both version of java, after installation, still results in same error
message as before, stating that it failed to locate an appropriate version
of java.

Hi Ron,

Could you tell us a bit more about the context:

1. Did you download Greenstone-2.81rc-win32.exe (the binary
distribution) or Greenstone-2.81rc-win32-source.jar (source code
distribution)? The former comes with a bundled Java in C:\\Program
Files\\Greenstone2\\packages\\jre.

2. What Windows operating system are you using?
